Action – NOVA IMS CHALLENGE: Applica-te
Description – NOVA IMS has been promoting the NOVA IMS CHALLENGE – Applica-te since 2016, a competition of ideas for students from Basic to Secondary Education (7th to 12th), which aims to promote the creative and entrepreneurial spirit of young people and sustainable development through of technologies.
The challenge is to describe in detail a smartphone App that fulfills a single purpose: to contribute to achieving one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Prizes are awarded to the projects that finish in the first three places, as well as to the teacher/trainer and the school of the winning project. The presentation of the projects is carried out at NOVA IMS, at the NATIONAL FINAL, at this stage ten applications will be selected (5 from each level), which will be presented to the members of the jury. We therefore believe that Applica-te is an initiative that is in line with the objectives of INCoDe.2030, namely with the specific objectives of the Education axis, thus contributing to supporting students in their learning, developing skills in digital technologies developing skills in digital technologies that go beyond their mere use, by stimulating not only the creative and entrepreneurial spirit but also the development of scientific reasoning skills, collaborative work and design, and knowledge of Apps programming.
In this alignment, the NOVA IMS CHALLENGE: Applica-te initiative is envisaged in a broad scope for the integrated promotion of digital development, including the education of new generations.
