The University of Aveiro wants to respond to the needs of Industry 4.0
The University of Aveiro (UA) has just established a partnership with Bosch in the field of Industry 4.0. This is a five-year plan, scheduled to start in 2019, which will seek solutions and skills to address unanswered requirements.
The announcement was made on 23rd November by Nelson Ferreira, Industry 4.0 team coordinator, Project Management Office at Bosch, during the visit of the Secretary of State of Economy, João Correia Neves, to the Department of Communication and Art of the UA. The event, organized under the Portuguese Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation umbrella, was promoted by the Ministry of Economy with the collaboration of IAPMEI.
The Collaborative Protocol between the University of Aveiro and Bosch will focus on the development of competencies to meet the demands of Industry 4.0 worldwide, such as Information Technology and Automation Systems in Industrial Applications. In addition, it aims to provide not only solutions for industrial installations through different sectors of activity: from Metalworking to Assembly Technology, but also computerized means to control these processes to a level that is not possible yet.
According to Bosch team coordinator "hiring skilled workers in these areas is difficult, but it is even more difficult to find the ones with specialized knowledge.”
