Technovation Challenge Portugal - November 14, 2019
FCT-NOVA will welcome again, in Portugal, the edition of the Technovation Challenge, following the huge success of the 2018 initiative. The opening session programme will take place on November 14 at the FCT-NOVA Information Department, in the afternoon.
Technovation Challenge is the world’s largest technology entrepreneurship programme for young girls (ages 10-18). The programme offers girls a unique experience to enhance the necessary skills to become tech entrepreneurs and leaders through the creation of a business plan and an original application. While working in teams, this project should seek to solve a problem identified in local communities. Throughout the programme, the candidates will acquire several entrepreneurship and programming competencies, with the objective of submitting their final work to the worldwide Technovation Challenge competition.
In the first edition of Technovation Portugal, which took place in 2018, seven Portuguese teams submitted their projects to the global competition.
The Department of Informatics - FCT NOVA is the Regional Ambassador of the programme in Portugal.
Since 2009, more than 15,000 girls from 100+ countries have participated in Technovation Challenge. An initiative that is framed within different international movements, such as Girls in ICT, Women in Computing and Code Girl, which are aimed at achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls in the professional areas of ICT and Informatics.
